Program Note

Florian is the affectionate name of the CEARP Studio's Eurorack modular synthesizer. Florian Speaks is a piece I improvised on this synth using a 4" sample of my own voice saying the phrase "Just keep on talking." Mutable Instruments' BEADS module is used to apply granular synthesis to this voice sample. Other modules are used as well (clock, LFO, filter, etc...). One cycle of an inverted triangle wave (a fall and a rise), from Make Noise's MATHS module, stretched to almost 9 minutes, is used as a control element for various parameters of the piece.
