Program Note
That Which Brings the Fog and Mist is part of a series of recorded improvisations for electric guitar that I worked on in the fall of 2021, during the tail end of the pandemic lockdowns. This is an ambient work that features a haunting exploration of controlled feedback, filtered noise, microtones, difference tones and sonic gestures. The sonorities are achieved achieved through using a semi-hollow bodied electric guitar equipped with humbucking pickups, a very loud amplifier and significant amounts of distortion. Varying the axis of the guitar in relation to the amplifier through my body position while playing helped me control (increase-decrease) feedback. The following guitar pedals and effects were used: Wah, Big Muff, Tremolo, Reverb.
